Early on, and with good reason, we are taught to respect and honor our military personnel. After all, it is the men and women who serve who give such great sacrifices to protect our freedom. I understand this as an adult, and whenever the chance presents itself, I stand with our armed forces.
However, when I was younger, I did occasionally find it difficult to understand the idea. Although I was aware of the military’s heroic efforts to keep us safe, I was not aware of the importance of showing gratitude.
Jace Vega, 6, states unequivocally that he does. At the airport in San Antonio, the first-grader was seen giving the salute to servicemen, and a picture of him has since gone viral.
On Sunday, Fox San Antonio raised awareness of Jace on its Facebook page. Jace’s photo had about 3,000 likes and 1,900 shares as of this writing.
Jace responded simply, “Because they fight for our country,” when asked why he had saluted. “.
After his father returned from a vacation in Colorado Springs, Ace and his family were waiting for him at the airport. The first-grader saw the military personnel at that point and decided on his own to salute them.
Joe Vega challenged his son, “Why don’t you tell them [the station] what you told me that maybe you want to be a soldier someday, right?”.
Joe expressed his pride in his young son and said that the salute might have provided him with future opportunities.
He said, “A few companies have gotten in touch with us, and some other folks have just gotten in touch with my wife.”. In a Florida airport, his picture will be on display. He will work with a few seasoned local companies that design shirts and are owned and operated locally to produce a few shirts. “.
Jace, you should be commended for your patriotic outlook and assistance to those who need it.
If you think that young Jace needs some support, please spread the word about this.
