The pituitary tumor, which is a benign brain tumor, was identified in Melanie Shaha of Gilbert, Arizona, in 2003.
She also experienced other symptoms, such as dull headaches, as a result of this tumor’s impact on the operation of the gland close to the base of her brain.
Consequently, she tragically lost her hair, leaving her defenseless and exposed. Thankfully, her son stepped up and started growing his hair out to give his mother a wig so she could feel better about the way she looked.
Melanie needed comfort during a trying time, and the wig made from her son’s hair serves as a wonderful example of the impact loving gestures can have.
Melanie Shaha was shocked to learn that hair loss could occur as a result of her radiation treatment. She underwent three surgeries to remove a tumor from her body in 2006, 2017, and 2018, but the unfavorable side effect of hair loss persisted.
Because she felt uncomfortable being the center of attention due to her lack of hair, Melanie found it difficult to blend in with other people when she was out in public. She also found it challenging to go about her daily activities like shopping and finding things to eat.
To make matters worse, during a family lunch in 2018, her son Matt made a derogatory comment about it.
To show his mother how much he cared, Matt let his hair grow out. His hair was previously short and it all began when he graduated from university.
He offered to grow Melanie Shaha enough hair to make her a wig after realizing a newfound sense of freedom with his hair. However, Matt persisted and by March 21st, he had gained 12 inches despite her initial resistance.
After gathering his coworkers, he cut it off with their assistance and constructed the wig. Melanie was so moved by her son and mother’s tender moment together that she started crying.
In June, after the hair had been sent to Compassionate Creations in Newport Beach, California, Melanie received her hand-tied wig. In a way that words can’t express, this action will serve to remind her of how much Matt cares for her.
Veronica Balch, a co-founder of the business, was delighted to work with the family and thought it was inspiring that one was willing to shave their head for a member of the family.
Melanie’s wig, which had been expertly cut, styled, and painted in a stunning color, made her ecstatic. She said it looked great on her, and Matt concurred.
He had poured love and support into Melanie’s emotional cup, and she would always be grateful to him for that.
