Amy Dowden admits she is “not looking forward” to the treatment, which will always leave visible scars. The Strictly Come Dancing contestant, 32, was first diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May and underwent a mastectomy to combat it. But after the operation another tumor was discovered and last month he was told he would need chemotherapy. The professional dancer recently posted a hospital photo of herself posing in front of a bathroom mirror while wearing a medical gown and mask.

I don’t want to do that. he wrote alongside a photo of himself. Another scar is only an inch long, but it serves as a permanent reminder and remains [visible] forever.

Dowden also posted a few photos of the process as he was set up in the chemotherapy port. In the post, Dowden said she wanted to document her treatment experience “so others can investigate and understand what we’re going through.”

I didn’t wait. It’s not simple… the blood vessels inside me! I’m sore, bruised and sore, but the port will make a huge difference over the next few weeks and allow me to dance when I feel better,” he said. “There’s a port under the skin and a tube that connects to the heart through a vein so I can get chemotherapy safely,” the patient said. “I’m not a doctor!”

It comes after Dowden admitted that “everything changed” for her during an Instagram Live session with breast cancer survivor and Crohn’s Paralympian Erin Kennedy. “Initially, my treatment plan included radiotherapy, hormone therapy and a lumpectomy. But after the MRI, they discovered a second tumor that required a mastectomy, which unfortunately led to another tumor. “They found another type of cancer and told me I needed chemotherapy, which was a huge shock to me.

It wasn’t part of the original idea and I know I don’t have to stick with it. She said she fears the chemotherapy will prevent her from dancing. “I’m really upset because you can take my breasts but you can’t take my dance.”

Dowden had hoped to take part in Strictly this year after being diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time. But his new treatment makes it impossible for him to do so competitively. Unable to dance with the celebs on Strictly this year, she said: ‘But I’m always in touch with the team. The BBC was fantastic.”

Before receiving treatment last week, Dowden attended a dance competition to bid a tearful farewell to her teammates.

She revealed on her Instagram story that she surprised her friends. “I cried tears of joy when I saw them all. We caught up with everyone, danced, and learned some fun ideas for the series. I’m so happy because it looks great. With ongoing research into Crohn’s disease, a chronic disease that affects various parts of the digestive system, Dowden published her diagnosis to raise awareness of the disease.

She presented the BBC documentary Strictly Amy: Crohn’s and Me, which explored how Crohn’s disease affected her life. Dowden is married to her longtime partner, Benjamin Jones, a professional dancer. They got married in 2022.
