He wanted to pursue a career in theater or film. He discovered the world of theater while playing with his brother-in-law Ricky Nelson, who starred in the sitcom The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. This experience ignited Mark’s passion for theater.

One of Mark’s breakout roles was in the drama series ‘Saint’s Elsewhere’, where his outstanding acting skills caught the attention of producers. However, after working in the industry for over a decade, Mark realized that he was missing out on important moments with his family.

He made the difficult decision to step back from his demanding career and prioritize spending time with his loved ones. Around this time, he received a script for the television series NCIS and was fascinated by the character of Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

Mark’s portrayal of Gibbs on NCIS resonated with audiences around the world. The show was a huge hit, attracting millions of viewers every week. He wanted to avoid unnecessary drama and twists and hence asked the channel not to actively promote his latest episode. This decision allowed Mark to gracefully exit the show and focus on his family and potential future projects.

In addition to acting, Mark showed an interest in carpentry. In an interview, he said that if he had not become an actor, he would have pursued a career as a carpenter.
