A TikToker has shared a truly horrifying new dating trend with their followers.
And it has the internet feeling disgusted.
“This is honestly so scary,” one wrote.
Now, we all love TikTok.
It’s pretty unlikely that you’ll see a teenager who isn’t obsessed with the social media platform.
And it’s not just the kids.
The majority of us adults are too, with us posting every inch of our lives on these apps and communicating with others through them solely.
It’s not just about funny videos though.
People can actually earn a living through social media, such as selling things on Instagram or starting a business through Twitter.
But there are some apps that aren’t so productive…
And TikTok is one of them!
What is TikTok?
Basically, it is an iOS and Android app made for creating and sharing short lip-sync, comedy, and talent videos.
It went viral pretty quick…
It was the world’s fourth most downloaded app in 2018, beating Instagram and Snapchat – which is a pretty big achievement!
It reminds many people of Vine.
Who remembers Vine? Launched in 2012, Vine was a short-form video hosting service that allowed users to share 6-second-long looping video clips.
And TikTok videos are similarly weird.
But it has to be said, the majority of them are rather entertaining.
Animals and TikTok are the best combination.
More and more people jumped on board the TikTok bandwagon and started getting their beloved pets involved.
Some are just plain weird…
It’s a mystery as to what goes through people’s heads when certain types of TikTok videos are made…
And of course, who could forget the pranks on Tiktok…
People love to film themselves pranking others and share it online.
However, a different TikTok has taken the internet by storm this week.
And it’s left people feeling rather horrified.
TikToker Mariel Darling has gone viral this week.
She shared her story of the brand new dating trend.
And she says it’s even worse than ghosting!
She calls it getting “zombie.”
Why, you ask?
Well, Mariel explains it all …
“Girl, you’re being ghosted? I’m being zombied,” she shared.
“It’s like ghosting, but he comes back from the dead after a couple of months and hits you up,” she went on.
She also joked that dating in New York City is very much like a “zombie apocalypse.”
She continued: “Mixed with the ‘Thriller’ music video because all these boys are tap dancing around commitment.”
And it seems Mariel isn’t the only person to experience this!
After posting, the comments section was flooded!
“Lol, this is so accurate,” wrote one user.
“Have you ever noticed that they all zombie you at the same time? Like why are four guys from my past all hitting me up on the same day???” another added.
“Mine has a Jesus Christ complex, he comes back every 3 days,” another joked.
“It’s because the girl he thought was better than you realized he’s terrible and ghosted him!” a fourth added.
Others shared their story.
“This just happened to me. Only I went out with the guy twice, SIX years ago!” they laughed.
Another gave some advice on avoiding these zombies.
“I saw someone say she puts gravestone emojis on their name in contacts so she knows not to deal with them anymore,” they offered.
