Elliot Page has shared an inspirational Instagram post.
And it has the internet feeling emotional!

Now, actor Elliot Page has been a prominent figure among LGBTQ+ fans for quite some time now…
And has long been an advocate for the community.
But on December 1st, 2020, he further enriched his legacy.
Elliot came out as transgender in a statement shared online.
In the deeply personal essay, they began: “Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they, and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here.”
“I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey.”
“I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self.”
“I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. I will offer whatever support I can and continue to strive for a more loving and equal society,” he wrote.
“I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive. To all the trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse, and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you, and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better.”
He then asked for “patience” as he navigates his new identity.
“My joy is real, but it is also fragile,” he wrote, “The truth is, despite feeling profoundly happy right now and knowing how much privilege I carry, I am also scared.”
“I’m scared of the invasiveness, the hate, the ‘jokes’ and of violence. To be clear, I am not trying to dampen a moment that is joyous and one that I celebrate, but I want to address the full picture.”
Of course, fans immediately began praising Page and offering their support…
And it’s clear that Page’s decision to come out as trans resonated with so many people.
The actor then kept to himself for several months…
Although the news of him filing for divorce from his wife, Emma Portner, hit global headlines.
In March 2021, Page did his first interview after coming out.
For Time magazine, Page opened up about his childhood and coming out as transgender.
“What I was anticipating was a lot of support and love and a massive amount of hatred and transphobia. That’s essentially what happened. I felt like a boy. I wanted to be a boy. I would ask my mom if I could be someday.”
The actor then opened up about making the huge decision to undergo top surgery.
He emphasized that being trans isn’t all about surgery, but explained that having it “has completely transformed my life.”
“We know who we are. People cling to these firm ideas [about gender] because it makes people feel safe. But if we could just celebrate all the wonderful complexities of people, the world would be such a better place,” Page said, “It’s a complicated journey and an ongoing process.
Page also sat down for a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired on Apple TV.
Page discussed the upcoming interview and the issues he’s faced since coming out as trans with Vanity Fair.
Page firstly noted the differences he felt since publicly addressing that he was trans.
The actor noted that they are now more comfortable within themself and commented that “the most significant difference is that I’m really able to just exist.”
They also noted that they now feel “present.”
As the interview continued, Page discussed his work and how things have changed.
They noted that because they feel more comfortable, it may impact their acting work; while noting that he wasn’t sure exactly how their work would be different in the future.
On the back of discussions about creativity, Page commented that transphobia blocks creative outlets for people:
“Transphobia in our society shuts so many people out. Think of all the individuals that don’t get a chance to thrive, that don’t get a chance to have a future, that don’t get a chance to share their magic with us.”
The actor went on to acknowledge that his experience is unique, but also discussed how they felt about their identity in the past.
“When I was a little kid, absolutely, 100%, I was a boy. I knew I was a boy when I was a toddler. I was writing fake love letters and signing them ‘Jason’. Every little aspect of my life, that is who I was, who I am, and who I knew myself to be,” he explained.
“I just couldn’t understand when I’d be told, ‘No, you’re not. No, you can’t be that when you’re older.’ You feel it. Now I’m finally getting myself back to feeling like who I am, and it’s so beautiful and extraordinary, and there’s a grief to it in a way.”
Although Page’s journey has been a long and difficult one…
It seems as if the actor is finally in the place they have always wanted to be in.
And recently, Page spoke out about how he is feeling better than ever in this point of his life and how wearing a suit to the Oscars was a “joyful moment.”
And people are very happy to hear it…
Page opened up about wearing a suit to the Oscars while speaking with Trans Week.
According to UNILAD, Page described it as “really special.”
“In the more specific ways, it’s wearing a suit last night [at the Academy Awards],” he said, the outlet reports.
“All those things are really special, wonderful, joyful moments where you’re looking at a photograph and it’s really cool to see yourself for the first time — or the person you already saw but here they are, like, they’re f*****g emerging.”
Page went on to say that he is feeling “the best I’ve ever felt.”
“I know the challenges I’ve gone through and I know how difficult it has been for me,” he said, adding that he feels the “way that I really never thought was possible.”
“The enormous amount of privilege, the enormous amount of resources I’ve had absolutely, unequivocally saved my life, from therapy to my surgery, and so many things between.”
“Just the degree now that I can feel present, simply that I can feel present in a space without this incessant underlying anxiety or some sort of feeling like I need to flee.”
Page has opened up about the joy of seeing himself after transitioning…
In a recent interview with Teen Vogue, Page said: “I can’t overstate the biggest joy, which is really seeing yourself. I know I look different to others, but to me, I’m just starting to look like myself.”
“It’s indescribable, because I’m just like, there I am. And thank God. Here I am.
“For me, euphoria is simply the act of waking up, making my coffee, and sitting down with a book and being able to read,” he continued.
“I know that may sound strange, but I can’t stress enough the degree of discomfort and struggle that I was experiencing that got in the way of everything. How could it not?
“I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive. To all the trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse, and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you, and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better,” he finished.
But, unfortunately, even with the flooding support Page has received…
He’s also received “unfortunate” negativity, as well.
And he’s addressed it.
The star did so on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Talking to Meyers, the actor said that although there has been a lot of negativity, he tries to focus on the ways his life has improved, instead.
“I feel like it’s one of those things where it’s so unfortunate, because it’s like, we’re all on the same team here, you know? Whether you’re trans, gender-nonconforming, cis,” he said.
“We all have these expectations, and these, sort of, limits and constraints because of people’s obsession with the binary, and how we’re all supposed to live our lives,” he continued on.
“I want to focus on — and it has been so extraordinary — the degree of joy I feel and the degree of presence I feel that I never really thought possible for a long, long time. That’s what I’m focusing on and embracing,” Page explained.
And who wouldn’t want to focus on that, right?
“I feel a way that I really never thought possible,” Page said.
“It’s improved my life drastically. And I hope, you know, I hope maybe people who do have an issue with me can maybe try and hear that, or embrace that on some level,” he concluded.
He shared that he’s ready to start dating again…
This time, signing up for an online dating app.
He revealed the exciting news in an Instagram story.
And it seems he had some help from his Umbrella Academy co-star Ritu Arya, who plays Lila Pitts in the series.
In the sweet picture, they could both be seen lying next to each other, as Arya shows him the ropes.
Page captioned the pic: “Ritu Arya guiding me on my first dating app ever.”
This comes eighteen months after he filed for divorce from his wife Emma Portner.
However, the pair have remained friends.
It seems like Page might be seeing someone new…
After stepping out on the red carpet, accompanied by Mae Martin, fans think the pair are more than just friends. Martin is a Canadian comedian and actor whose most notable roles so far are in Kaley Cuoco’s TV show, ‘The Flight Attendant‘ and the Netflix show ‘Feel Good’.
Page wore a double-breasted black suit and bow tie, while Martin wore a tie-less navy and black suit.
And they both seemed to be beaming with confidence together.
Martin solidified dating rumors with their post on Instagram, where they referred to Page as ‘My King.’
The photo was a bathroom selfie of the two together with the caption: “My King @elliotpage took me out. Thank you @Gucci for the suit and @lacma for the stunning night.”
They finished the caption with the hashtag #t4t, which stands for “trans for trans” and typically refers to a transgender person who prefers to date other trans people.
While Page came out as a trans man in 2020, Martin came out as non-binary in 2021.
This isn’t the first time the pair have been spotted together, and in July 2021 Page shared a selfie of the pair on his Instagram with the caption, “Chilling with this heartthrob 😍.”
Whilst nothing has been confirmed yet, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for both of them!
And now, Page has opened up once more about his trans joy.
He shared a shirtless pic with a truly incredible caption.
“Dysphoria used to be especially rife in the summer,” Page wrote.
“No layers, just a T-shirt – or layers and oh so sweaty – constantly looking down, readjusting my oversized tee.”
“I never thought I could experience this, the joy I feel in my body.”
“I am so grateful for what gender affirming care has allowed me and I look forward to sharing more of my journey soon,” he said.
