Jenna Lyons discusses how her love of fashion was ultimately motivated by a genetic disorder.
On Wednesday morning’s episode of The View, the 55-year-old Real Housewives of New York City star discussed her genetic condition, incontinentia pigmenti.
“I have fake teeth all over. She jokingly said, “I paid a lot of money for them. “Even my hair is synthetic.
I’m able to remove it.
Like a hat, it.
There is no wig on.
”.
I have fake eyelashes, she continued. I don’t have any eyebrows, and my skin is covered in scars. ”.
Bloch-Sulzberger syndrome, also known as incontinentia pigmenti, gradually affects the skin and other bodily systems. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, the symptoms include hair loss, small or missing teeth, eye abnormalities that can cause vision loss, and lined or pitted nails.
“I was really aware.
The former J.
said, “It’s one of the reasons I got into fashion. the crew president stated. “I desired a more appealing appearance. I was always looking for ways to blend in. ”.
Lyons went on to describe how she later started her own brand of synthetic eyelashes, Love Seen.
“When I was doing a lot of red carpets, I kept looking for eyelashes that looked good, but they were just enormous on me. She explained, “I couldn’t wear them.
She recalled, “I was actually going on the Oprah show and I remember talking to my makeup artist Troi Ollivierre when Oprah walked into the green room. “He looked at her and me before saying, “Get back in that chair. You will have some eyelashes applied, and we will get some extensions. ’”.
Lyons chuckled, “because she has presence and I look like a wet rat.
The fashion designer said, “I couldn’t find what I wanted, so I created a line of lashes that aren’t as over-the-top.”.
In a 2012 interview with The Guardian, Lyons previously talked openly about her genetic condition. Although it made me more reserved, she added, “it was also the reason I loved fashion because it can change who you are and how you feel, and that can be magical.”.
