Oprah Winfrey Shares Her Post-ESSENCE Fest 2-Mile Hike: ‘Walkin’ Off Some of That Gumbo

In New Orleans this time, Oprah Winfrey is out for another hike.

Following his weekend attendance at the ESSENCE Festival of Culture, the media mogul, 68, posted a video on Instagram on Monday of himself hiking with two friends.

She captioned the photo, “Love y’all @essencefest, but y’all can keep your heat! Back to walkin’ off some of that gumbo .”.

Winfrey displayed the view in the video clip before climbing the hill with the aid of two trekking poles.

The objective is to reach there today, she said, pointing to the hill in front of her. “From our current location, that is about two miles straight up. ”.

After reaching the summit, the hike’s similarities to everyone’s life journey were brought to light by the star.

“This is the challenge of reaching the top.
Because of the numerous hills and valleys in between, it’s more difficult than you might imagine.
You might believe it’s a direct path to the mountain, so it’s a great metaphor. You glance and believe, “Oh, I can make it there.”. Then there are all the curves, twists, turns, dips, valleys, rocks, and hills, just like life. ”.

In October 2022, Winfrey talked about her love of hiking and how she had recently recovered from double knee surgeries.

In her “The Life You Want” class, where the emphasis was on gratitude, she gave a health update. One guest, who expressed gratitude for every organ and limb, Winfrey said she particularly related to.

She recalled, “In August, I had knee surgery, and then in November, I had knee surgery again.”. “I could hardly lift my leg when I first returned home. I swore I would benefit from movement, exercise, and being able to be fully in my body if I was ever able to get up, walk around, and move again. However, I was unable to lift my heel off of the bed.
“.

“I started going on hikes as I was recovering. At the time, Winfrey continued, “I tried to hike more and do more every day. My gratitude for each organ and limb has grown exponentially. So, when you brought that up, it really hit home for me. “.
