Adrian Rodriguez is being commended for his good deed of returning a pocketbook he found in a shopping cart.
The seventeen-year-old went above and beyond by defiantly refusing to simply hand the store manager the pocketbook. Using the address on the driver’s license inside the bag, he located the owner’s home and went out of his way to deliver the purse there.
The address on Eliana Martin’s driver’s license had not yet been updated despite the fact that she had recently moved out of the home where her best friend Melina Martinez resided. Martinez’s aunt thankfully opened the door and took the purse from him.
After hearing the story when she arrived home, Martinez took the video from the doorbell security camera and went looking for the boy to thank him.
Rodriguez eventually contacted him to reveal his identity after the video was widely shared. When asked why he went the extra mile to return the handbag, he replied that his mother had always told him to do the right thing even when no one was looking.
That is the essence of morality and character, which can be so challenging to uphold. As a result, when the family and friends of the kind-hearted teen learned about him, they created a GoFundMe account to raise money as a way of saying “thank you.”.
Given that the award came to almost $9,000.00, Rodriguez undoubtedly received an unexpected blessing. On the GoFundMe page, there is a thank-you note as well as an update from the closest friends. They post photos of Adrian and his mother riding in the car he purchased with some of the donations.
Just goes to show that being kind still has its benefits.
