The majority of 90-year-olds are reaping the rewards of their labor, relaxing, and taking things slowly. But 90-year-old Bonnie Engle, who makes quilts for underprivileged families in Oregon, is busier than ever.
The Hermiston resident started the custom 20 years ago as a part of the annual Holiday Express program run by the Hermiston Police Department, which provides food and assistance to families during the holiday season.
Since then, the committed senior has made nearly 2,000 quilts for the police.
Officers presented her with a plaque in appreciation for her efforts.
To help those in need, Bonnie has made more than 100 handmade quilts this year.
“Helping them feels great,” you might say. Bonnie told ABC 7 News, “Thank you to the community for the fabric donations; that’s really important.
By telling this tale, Bonnie, you can assist us in sincerely thanking this remarkable woman.
