After Losing Her Only Child at Birth, She Hears a Voice Say, “I’m Not Gone”

Genevieve Purinton, who is now 88, thought she was the only person in the world. Genevieve’s large family once consisted of eight siblings, but they have since all passed away. She lived in a Tampa assisted living facility, where she thought she was the only person in the world.

Contrary to some people, Genevieve was never able to raise children.
She was only 18 years old when she became pregnant in 1949, and she was told that her unborn child had passed away.
Genevieve didn’t have any more kids.

Genevieve says, “They told me she had passed away.”.
She thought she was the only person in the world and was rather surprised when a woman reached out and claimed to be her long lost daughter.

A hug to make up for lost time is how the reunion is depicted in this video. The two held each other for a while as they struggled. After all, this is their first actual exchange of words.

The daughter, Connie, claims she has wanted to meet her birth mother since she was five years old but has never had the chance. She most recently bought a DNA test from Ancestry.com.

Through the search results, she located a long-lost relative who provided the name of her birth mother. As soon as Connie discovered her birth mother was still alive, she knew she had to meet her.

The overall story is one of happiness even though this reunion was overdue by 69 years. Genevieve realized she wasn’t as alone as she thought she was once Connie reached out to her. With her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in her life, we have no doubt that they will have plenty of adventures to catch up on and memories to make in the future!
