On Wednesday, Alex Rodriguez revealed during a segment of the morning show that he has early-stage gum disease.
For the announcement and the discussion of the value of dental health, Rodriguez, 47, joined the hosts of CBS News.
The former Yankees star responded to a compliment about his smile at the beginning of the segment by saying, “Looks can be deceiving.
Rodriguez said on the program, “I just recently went to see my dentist and I wasn’t thinking about any gum disease. I learn from the dentist that over 65 million Americans suffer from this gum disease after he has given me the bad news. ” .

Rodriguez teamed up with OraPharma to spread the word about dental wellness after receiving the diagnosis.
He urged the audience to practice good dental hygiene. He continued, “Teeth care is important for all the viewers watching, for all Americans.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than half of Americans over 30 have some form of gum disease, with the average number rising to over 65.
The co-owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves didn’t know what caused his diagnosis, but he said during the segment that the problem is “prevalent in our Black and Brown communities, and especially my Latino community.”.
Although he was a devoted consumer of sunflower seeds, Rodriguez claimed he never chewed tobacco while competing in the MLB.
Rodriguez recalled the passing of Tony Gwen, one of his mentors and “one of the great, great icons of baseball,” after “a lot of tobacco use.”.
