A 6-year-old boy’s final goodnight to his younger sister was caught on camera and is breaking people’s hearts all over the world.
The picture was taken by Matt Sooter of Arkansas, whose 4-year-old daughter Adalynn “Addy” was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
Matt thought it was unfair for a young child to have to say goodbye to his playmate, best friend, and younger sister.
Over 8,000 people responded to the heartbreaking image. To raise awareness of this uncommon condition, the parents are currently working.
The Sooter family’s world was turned upside down when they discovered their daughter had diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a rare tumor with a brainstem origin, in November 2016.
Before her symptoms worsened over the ensuing 18 months, Addy would have to endure the tumor’s growth.
In his Facebook post, Matt detailed the rapid decline of his daughter, 4, who is four years old.
“Addy’s symptoms have quickly worsened over the past day and a half. Yesterday when she woke up, she was her usual vivacious, happy self. Our infant is now in inpatient care because, despite the fact that we still visit her occasionally, she can no longer eat or swallow without difficulty and spends most of her time sleeping. I doubt she has much time left,” he wrote on Facebook.
In a very heartbreaking and tragic post, he urged any friends and family who wanted to bid their sweet daughter a final farewell to get in touch with them.
Jackson, the older sibling, was hesitant to leave his sister’s side, so Matt implores followers to pray for her.
Soon after Jackson kissed and declared his love for his little sister, she passed away.
A short while later, the family announced their daughter’s passing on the Facebook page Hope for Addy Joy – Fighting DIPG.
She passed over into the next life in the same way she had lived—stubbornly, but calmly, and with her loved ones by her side. In the end, she wasn’t in any pain,” it stated.
“Our baby girl is greatly missed, even though this is just a temporary farewell,”.
In order to “avoid future children from a similar fate,” Addy’s brain and spine tumors were donated to science. “.
In a Facebook post, they provided the following justification for their choice: “Our sweet girl loved helping people and giving gifts, so we thought this would be an excellent way to show her giving heart. “.
We all have acquaintances who have been affected by this terrible illness, but it is especially upsetting when children are involved.
Dear angel Addy, may peace be with you.
