To save his five sons—ages 11, 10, 4, 1, and 3—Wayne Godinet sprinted back into the burning house. Father went in but was unable to get out. The mother of the kids, Samantha, managed to escape the house, but she is now bereaved of her loved ones.
According to sources, a second 22-year-old woman related to Samantha jumped from the burning house’s first floor. Both minor wounds and serious trauma were sustained by the two women.
Godinet’s neighbors praised him for motivating him to save his children. “He was like a hero, and he would have done anything in his power to save those kids, so clearly, it was impossible,” said Angela Dawson, a family friend.
The fire was almost immediately put out by the firemen, who also used drones to spot hot spots. Firefighters were able to save her after the fire spread to a neighbor’s home. The fire department will launch an investigation into how the house caught fire after the fire has been extinguished.
Assistant Comm. It would take time, according to John Cawcutt of the Fire and Emergency Services, to clear the debris and determine what started the terrible fire.
The people of Russell Island are also seeking solutions. The locals, who all knew one another, were all gushing about Godinet’s parenting skills. He was a loving father. He loved to play with the kids when he got home, Dawson continued.
Members of the community and extended family will be impacted by the deaths of these six people. We will do everything in our power to help Samantha, who lost her husband and children, get over the tragic loss.
