When cancer takes her hair, her son grows his own to create a wig with love.

Melanie Shaha of Gilbert, Arizona, was informed in 2003 that she had a benign brain tumor called a pituitary tumor.

She also experienced other symptoms, such as dull headaches, as a result of the tumor’s impact on the operation of the gland close to the base of her brain.

Consequently, she tragically lost her hair, leaving her defenseless and exposed. Thank goodness, her son stepped up and started growing his hair out so he could give his mother a wig so she could feel a little more proud of her appearance.

The wig made from Melanie’s son’s hair serves as a wonderful reminder of the impact loving gestures can have during trying times.

When Melanie Shaha learned that her radiation treatment could cause hair loss, she was shocked. She underwent three surgeries to remove a tumor from her body in 2006, 2017, and 2018, but the unfavorable side effect of hair loss persisted.

Melanie found it difficult to blend in with other people when she was out in public because she felt uneasy being the center of attention due to her lack of hair; she also found it difficult to blend in with other people when she was out shopping or going about her daily life.

To make matters worse, during a family lunch in 2018, her son Matt made a derogatory comment about it.

Matt showed his mother his love and devotion by growing out his hair. His hair had been short when he had graduated from university, and that’s when it all began.

He offered Melanie Shaha that he could grow enough hair to make her a wig after realizing a newfound freedom with his hair. She initially resisted carrying the weight, but Matt persisted and by March 21st had gained 12 inches.

Then he gathered his coworkers to assist in building the wig and cutting it off. Melanie’s response to this heartwarming exchange between her son and mother was very emotional, resulting in tears rolling down her cheeks.

After the hair was shipped to Compassionate Creations in Newport Beach, California, Melanie received her hand-tied wig in June. In a way that words can’t express, this deed will serve to remind her of how much Matt loves her.

Co-founder of the business, Veronica Balch, was delighted to work with the family and found it inspiring that one was willing to shave their head for a member of the family.

Melanie was thrilled with her wig, which had been expertly cut, styled, and dyed in a gorgeous color. Matt, her husband, concurred that she looked fantastic in it.

His love and encouragement had filled Melanie’s emotional cup, and she would always be grateful to him for that.
