On a warm summer day, Maria took her daughter Sofia for a stroll through the nearby fields. Maria spotted a small tree as they were strolling along. She looked more closely and saw that the tree produced tiny, white fruits, which she had never seen before.
Maria first thought the fruits were animal or bird eggs, but upon closer inspection she realized they were eggplants. Sofia begged her mom to bring some of the strange, white fruits home so she could cook them.
Maria was initially hesitant because she had never cooked with white eggplants before and wasn’t sure what to do with them. Sofia insisted that Maria try it, so she did.
From the tree, she plucked a few eggplants and brought them inside.
When they got home, Maria immediately started cooking. She searched online for recipes to prepare the eggplants perfectly. She made the traditional Italian dish she had always loved, eggplant parmesan, at last.
After being thinly sliced and deep-fried until golden brown, the eggplants were covered in tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese and baked until hot and bubbling. When they had finished, she and Sofia sat down to enjoy their creation.
Maria was pleasantly surprised by how fantastic the eggplant parmesan was. The soft, sweet, and delicately flavored eggplants complemented the tangy tomato sauce and oozy cheese well.
After that, Maria made it a point to return to the farm every summer to see how the white eggplant tree was doing. Every summer, it would produce its unusual but delectable fruit. She would select a few eggplants from the tree and bring them inside since they had created a family favorite recipe called eggplant parmesan.
For Maria and Sofia, the discovery of the white eggplant tree opened up a whole new world of culinary possibilities. It also served as a reminder to Maria of the fact that sometimes the most amazing things can be found in the most unexpected places.
